eirik sandaker film & tv editor

about me

Norwegian born – Oslo based.

Ever since he was a kid Eirik was spellbound by films and their abilities to transcend stories, characters and emotions.
Playing with filmmaking from early age he grew a fondness to building the story with picture and sound – the cut was so powerful.

It wasn’t until 2008 after he earned a BA in Directing for Television as a documentary filmmaker that he really got into the meat of editing. He wrote, directed and edited his thesis film “The Choice of Love”.
Earning national acclaim after the NRK TV broadcasting of his recent film Eirik was given the chance to edit
reality and documentary right off the bat.

Being exposed to hard deadlines, quick decision-making and trusting his own intuition this work allowed him to develop his skills in a fast paced postproduction environment.

However he soon realized some formatted TV shows shackled his creativity.
He yearned to hone his skills and grow as a film editor. After nearly 4 years in television Eirik decided to attain this arcane knowledge from one of the worlds leading film schools - The American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles (AFI). Eirik enrolled in 2011.

AFI is the pinnacle of student filmmaking. The faculty, mentors and facilities are world class. Although these are students, these films are not student films. Their ambitions, execution and end results rank alongside great indie films – harvesting international acclaim and Student Academy Award almost every year.

The 2 and a half years invested at AFI helped Eirik build a professional network and grow as an individual as well as a filmmaker.

In 2014 he returned to Norway ready to bridge into film and scripted TV shows while maintaining his bonds to film production in Los Angeles. And though his passion lies within editing he also develops and directs documentary films.

Eirik’s portfolio showcases an ability to work the emotional beat of the stories at hand – from script phase to the final cut.
He loves to get into the nitty gritty of characters and scenes, bringing ideas to the table, problem solving and pushes the limit of every story in the process of breathing life to a director’s vision.
